Getting Started
Step 1) Plug RoadTrip into a USB power source (like a wall charger or a USB port on your computer) using the USB cable. While still plugged in to a power source, connect the RoadTrip to a router, switch, or hub with a standard network (Ethernet) cable.
Step 2) Go to the WiFi settings of your WiFi-enabled device (smart phone, tablet, laptop) and connect to the RoadTrip WiFi network using the super-secret and stealthy password “roadtrip”.
Step 3) Open an internet browser and go to getroadtrip.com. Once there, click the Account tab, then click the Register tab from the Account drop-down menu and create your very own RoadTrip account.
*You may need to disable your data connection to successfully connect to the RoadTrip website.
Upload Movies onto Your RoadTrip Profile
Option #1
Use your Sagebin account to mail movies you own to Sagebin who will create a digital copy of each movie that you can then load onto your RoadTrip profile.
Option #2
Transfer movies you already have a digital copy of directly onto your RoadTrip using a USB drive (flash drive or hard drive).
Download Movies onto Your RoadTrip
*Note: You need to already have movies in your RoadTrip profile to be able to download them onto your RoadTrip device. If you don’t already have movies on your profile go to the “Upload Movies onto your RoadTrip Profile” instructions.
Step 1) Plug RoadTrip into a USB power source (like a wall charger or a USB port on your computer) using the USB cable.
Step 2) Go to the WiFi settings of your WiFi-enabled device (smart phone, tablet, laptop) and connect to the RoadTrip WiFi network using the super-secret and stealthy password “roadtrip”.
Step 3) Use your WiFi-enabled device to connect with the “RoadTrip” WiFi signal using the super-stealthy secret password “roadtrip”
Step 4) Open a web browser on your WiFi enabled device and go to getroadtrip.com.
Step 5) Click the “Download” tab to see your available movies. This may take a little while to load if you have a lot of movies. Your movies will be found in alphabetical order, with borrowed movies appearing first (so borrowed movies A-Z then movies you own A-Z). Movies already downloaded onto your RoadTrip will say “Downloaded” on the movie. Fancy, huh?
Step 7) Click the movies you want to download and an indicator will soon appear letting you know they’re being downloaded. You may need to hit refresh to see it. Movies you borrow from friends will automatically expire once the time you borrowed them for is up. And your own movies that you download from Sagebin will also need to be renewed after 14 days.
Step 8) Go on a road trip and watch whichever movie you want (along with whichever movie each member of your posse wants to watch!)
Watch Movies with Your RoadTrip
Step 1) Plug RoadTrip into a USB power source (like a wall charger or a USB port on your computer) using the USB cable.
Step 2) Use your WiFi-enabled device to connect with the “RoadTrip” WiFi signal using the super-stealthy secret password “roadtrip”.
Step 3) Open a web browser on your smart phone/tablet/laptop and go to www.getroadtrip.com.
*Fun fact: at this point you can enter any non-secure web address while connected to your RoadTrip’s signal and your RoadTrip will still take you to the RoadTrip landing page. We just tell you to go to www.getroadtrip.com because that takes less explanation than explaining what we just explained to you. We’re all about efficiency.
Step 4) Once the landing page loads, click on whichever movie you want to watch. This will take you to the movie detail page with the movie player.
Step 5) If you want to watch your movie in full-screen, click the small, full-screen button in the top-right corner of the movie. You may not be able to see it but, believe us, it’s there.
Step 6) Press the play button and enjoy your movies!
Troubleshooting
Can’t connect to RoadTrip WiFi when trying to download movies:
*Some devices recognize that your device isn’t actually connecting to the internet and will present errors. Keep trying! You can usually get it to connect.
*You may also need to unplug and plug in the Ethernet cable again.
Can’t connect to RoadTrip WiFi when trying to watch movies:
*Some devices recognize that your device isn’t actually connecting to the internet and will present errors. Keep trying! You can usually get it to connect.
The “Account” and “Download” pages are missing:
*If you get to the getroadtrip.com landing page and the “Account” and “Download” tabs don’t appear, you aren’t properly connected and you need to try to connect to your RoadTrip again.
RoadTrip is downloading movies slowly.
*The fuller your RoadTrip gets the harder it has to work to download movies. When you get down to about 15% of available memory on your RoadTrip only download one movie at a time.
